Cooking positions

General Duties include:

  • Quality Control: priority is to be given to quality of food & food preparation. Ensure proper presentation of prepared food before leaving kitchen;
  • Food Safety: ensure/enforce proper use of containment center, food preparation, & rotation of product;
  • Speed & Efficiency: management/prioritization of the Order Board, creating new specials in a timely manner;
  • Food Preparation: preparing ingredients to cook;
  • Kitchen Maintenance: maintaining equipment, cleaning all areas of kitchen, completing other cleaning duties when working alone (i.e. washing dishes);
  • Creativity: create new special ideas, finding ways to make pannenkoeken look even more exciting;
  • Other related duties as requested by owner.

Dishwasher Position

This position is an entry level position in the kitchen.  Your main job is to keep dishes and the dish pit clean, prioritize and provide front with necessary dishes and space to drop off.  During the weekdays, this position is a dual position functioning as a prep cook and dishwasher when no prep staff are available. 

Duties Include:

  • Dishes: Keep up with the dishes & prioritize what is needed up front;
    • Prioritize: make sure the front & the back have dishes of immediate need & other items (i.e. buckets, containers, etc.) can wait under the sink to be done later;
      • Immediate needs include: warm plates to run food, cutlery, coffee/teacups, glasses, ramekins, etc. 
  • Keeping area clear: keep incoming space free of dishes for drop off;
  • Drying & cleaning outgoing dish table;
  • Slip & fall prevention: keep floor space around you clean & dry (avoid slips/accidents);
  • Bringing out dishes to the front & putting away;
    • If you do not have the time, then ask the food runner or front staff (busser) for help, if they have the time, but keep the outgoing space clean & dry; 
  • Assisting: with prep/expo (overlap) when needed;
  • Cleaning: when you have extra time ask the chef what needs to be done i.e. prep, extra cleaning (see: Extra Kitchen Cleaning Duties), etc.;
  • Organizing: dishes being put away (i.e. Containment shelf, coffee cup shelf, etc.);
  • Other related duties as requested.
